What can a bunch of energetic, dedicated, creative alumni achieve in a short amount of time? Well, almost anything. We have launched our second successful show this winter, The Locals, featuring RISD/RI artists, at the 42 Rice Street Gallery. If you are in the area, check it out – the show is up until March 3, gallery hours are M-F, 10 AM – 3 PM – and/or stop by for Crit night on February 15, from 6 – 8 PM.
We had an amazing turnout, I overheard great discussions and could not be more proud of the work on exhibition, as well as the volunteerism and sponsorship that made this happen. Our first show, VICINITY, had such an outpouring of submissions, that it carried over into this show and included the works from our planning committee. Check out the wonderful pictures below from our event, provided generously by fellow alum, Antonio Peters 04 IL.
I’d like to take this time to thank our very dedicated planning committee. Volunteers include Mark Guarria 05 ID, Loise Harada 10 PR, Asher Dunn 08 ID, Joan Wyand 05 CR, Meredith Younger 03 CR, Cutter Hutton 99 ID, Melinda Rainsberger 04 FAV, Xephyr Inkpen 07 IL, Anson Cheung 10 ID , and Oleg Panichev 10 ID. Our committee spends countless hours planning future events, making connections with local partners, picking up food, hanging artwork, responding to emails, and serving as ambassadors to our local club community and beyond. I appreciate all their hard work and want to recognize them for their continued efforts, great cheer and amazing talents. Here’s a picture of us below.
Major thanks to our very generous sponsors, Gansett Beer, Yacht Soda, Nice Slice Pizza, Mohawk Papers, IDSA RI, DWRI Letterpress, Keeseh Studio and RISD Catering. You continue to fill our hearts and tummies!
Hope to see you all at CRIT NIGHT on February 15, from 6 – 8 PM, Keeseh Studio.
