Congrats to local alumni for the excellent exhibition of work at Jamestown Arts Center. Our chapter has completed another successful collaboration. We are ever grateful for the amazing work submitted, the sweat and precision to hang the show, our talented juror and awesome poster designed by Dan Wood Letterpress RI.
Last Thursday night a group of around 200 Jamestown locals and RISD alumni gathered to celebrate the opening of STATEWIDE: Works from RISD Rhode Island Alumni at the Jamestown Arts Center (JAC). The show, curated by Art New England Editor in Chief and longtime local gallery director/curator Judith Tolnick Champa, featured the work of more than 20 local alumni in a wide variety of mediums.
JAC was founded a little less than a year ago by alum and JAC Board President Kate Petrie BArch 87 (second from left) and Executive Director Lisa Utman Randall, whom, along with a dedicated roster of volunteers and lots of generous contributions, helped transform a former shipbuilding shop into a local art gallery, performance and education space, and overall great community resource. Many thanks to all involved for a wonderful show and inspiring night! (And if you didn’t get a chance to see it then, STATEWIDE is on view at the gallery through July 1.)
